Bernard's Farewell DinnerIt was sad to know that Bernie was going to leave our shores for the good ol' US of A. But, a fun time was had by all, on the night of the 7th July, at a restaurant in Castle Hill. Hopefully, he'll be back in the summer holidays to grace us with his presence, and a lot of "shocking" stories... :) (btw, Bernie is the one in dark blue at the front, and I'm the "giraffe" at the back).Thanks go to Pierre and Bernie for the photos. The Clock Tower Of TerrorFor those who don't live in Sydney, this photo is of the clock tower above Central Station, taken from the 10th story of the UTS Tower Building, on the 11/5/98. The photo was taken using two lenses that were fixed in position inside a length of PVC tubing (ie. a home-made telephoto lens system), and a specially modified camera (with a PVC end-cap stuck on the front), which, strangely, cannot be found outside UTS...! As you can see, it was a dark and stormy afternoon, inspiring me and Timbots to call it the "Clock Tower Of Terror" as a joke in our poster and report to our Physical Modelling class!(Added 17 July 98) |
